MCB Bank Limited is a Pakistani multinational commercial bank with headquarters in Lahore, Punjab. The majority of the shares are owned by the Pakistani firm Nishat Group and the Malaysian bank May Bank. In Pakistan, the bank operates a large network of 1,551 branches.
It was added by the Adam G Group on July 9, 1947. The bank was established to provide banking services to the South Asian business community. The bank was nationalized in 1974 under Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto.In 1991, it became the first bank to be privatised, and it was purchased by a consortium of Pakistani corporate groups led by the Nishat Group. Since June 2008, Nishat Group has owned a majority stake in Bank. The president of this bank is Shoaib Mumtaz.
The group has a presence in the country’s business sectors such as banking, textiles, cement and insurance. Mian Muhammad heads the Mansha Group and MCB. The Bank has established Islamic Banking Units in six cities with specialized Islamic Banking branches to offer Shariah-compliant products and services.
To expand into international markets, the bank’s management changed its name from Muslim Commercial Bank Limited to MCB Bank Limited in 2005. Due to the word “Muslim,” he encountered opposition in obtaining a licence, particularly from Western countries. In 2008, the MCB head office relocated from MCB Tower in Karachi to MCB House in Lahore, which was built on Ghous-ul-Azam Street, also known as Jail Road.
